Bad Chemistry.com

by Craig Price on

I’ve noticed a lot of these chemistry.com ads complaining about being rejected by eHarmony.com. I’m sure there are several reasons why they are better from eHarmony, but that’s not what I’m seeing. Basically they’re touting how loose their selection process is.

Now, I am not single (Sorry ladies). So I am not up to date on how the dating scene is anymore (thankfully). But both my wife and I thought how absurd it is to criticize a screening policy. I’m thinking it’s to protect the people signing up with the service from whackos and dangerous people. One of the scariest things about people online is the unknown. Who are they? Ok. Who are they, really?

A little negative thinking on eHarmony’s part is protecting people and actually setting people up with a safe match. Not chemistry.com. From Brandweek.com
“eHarmony consumers are frustrated because they had been rejected,” said Mandy Ginsberg, gm at the year-old Chemistry.com, Dallas. “We’re not as judgmental.” Chemistry.com positions itself as a closed community where people can look for companionship discreetly.

The only thing I get from the chemistry.com ads is:

Hey! Wanna date a stalker? How about a married man whose unsuspecting wife has no clue he’s online looking for love while she’s home taking care of his 3 kids? Maybe a felon with a long rap sheet is more to your taste. Join chemistry.com. We put the danger back into dating!

I’ve seen a few of those ads too. The emphasis seems to be put more on sexual orientation. Still I don’t understand how those people got rejected by eHarmony, I got accepted twice
