The media is all lathered up like a rabid dog over the latest possible pandemic, Swine Flu.
While being aware of a potential problem is a worth an alert, the media has to show us how horrible it could be. They’ve been trying to scare us for years about the oncoming pandemic that has yet to materialize. One of the reasons they even bring it up is they have invested too much into this pandemic scenario and soon or later they have to be right (right?).
Let’s run down the list of things that should have wiped out a major chuck of the world and didn’t:
SARS
Monkey Pox
Avian Flu
Mad Cow
West Nile Virus
And my favorite Hong Kong Flu-ey!
Yes, it’s important we know what’s happening in the world. Yes, we should take proactive steps to protect the general population. But do we have to scare people with the constant 24-hour “potential” affects and the non-telegenic “experts” who have horror stories to share?
We’re all going to die someday. Most of us won’t die as horribly as the news would like.
Sorry CNN. I think all this coverage is making me sick.
